My mother is 70 years old and has been taking Aten...

  • My mother is 70 years old and has been taking Atenolol/50mg for over 15 years now. She had her gallbladder removed 10 years ago and yesterday had to have gallstones removed from the remaining ducts. She has suffered great pain and we had never associated her condition with Atenolol until now. Is there a substitute for Atenolol? Thank you for listening.

  • Hello, I had my gallbladder

Hello, I had my gallbladder removed in January of 200o. Almost immediately thereafter, I started on atenolol 25mg twice a day. I haven't had any problems with either. In fact, for me, the removal of my gallbladder was a blessing. No more violent vomiting attacks. Furthermore, the atenolol helped with mt rapid heartbeat and skips. I do not see a correlation with pain from atenolol; but I am not a physician. You should make an appointment with your mom's doctor to get to the bottom of this. I wish you good luck.
