Been taking Flomax for 6 months, I am a male 71 years old. Last month I had an episode that I thought was a heart attack. I went to the emergency room and found out it was a extremely bad case of heartburn. All was normal and the symptoms went away with a hospital dose of Mylanta. I take my flomax at night prior to going to bed to combat the dizziness per my doctors recommendation. This past week I have experienced heartburn like symptoms night and night and day. I never before had heartburn, never in 70+ years.
I have decided to discontinue the Tamsulosin, call my urologist and see what develops. Hopefully the acid reflux will go away and I will try with my doctor to find out what other options are available to me. I do take a BP med (Ramipril), a statin (Atorvastatin) and a Type 2 diabetes med (Metformin) every day. BTW, I have been taking the Ramipril/atvorvastatin/Metformin for at least a year with no side effects.

Does anyone have the side effects issues of heart burn/acid reflux with the addition of Flomax/Tamsulosin. Thanks, Paul

I am a healthy 70 year old active male Started taking 10 mg lisinopril 3 months ago, and recently started to experience GERD in the morning. I do like a cup of coffee when I get up, and dont have breakfast until about 9 usually eggs, bacon, toast. I take lisinopril at bedtime along with 81 mg aspirin and 40 mg simvastatin. I dont each junk food, but I do have some ice cream after dinner. Rarely drink wine. My BP did drop from 140/80 to 125/72, so lisinopril does help. Any ideas on how to avoid GERD and still enjoy a cup of joe?

Hello! Hope you're doing well. I've been on 50 mg sertraline for 3,5 months now. Have 7 more full pills to go daily and then will be splitting them in half daily for the next 7 pills, after that half a tablet every other day for another 7 tablets. While on the drug, I've been experiencing strong acid reflux almost every night, mostly closer to mornings. I'm a professional singer, so this makes things quite bad for me, because my vocal cords are suffering from being constantly burnt and it effects my work. I've been trying different antacids, it makes it a little better, but the problem doesn't go away fully. Yesterday I've simmered some flaxseeds for 30 mins and left it to sink in for 3 hours. The liquid I got turned out quite dense. I've been advised by a doctor and a few friends of mine that this liquid is really helpful against acid reflux (even during pregnancy, if anyone's wondering) as it protects stomach and food tube walls from acid. So far, it's been actually really helpful. But I hope that this whole problem will disappear when I'm off the drug, which is actually quite soon. Has anyone else experienced severe acid reflux while on sertraline? Also, I was hoping to get some advice on how to get off the drug smoothly, without too many side effects. Thank you!
