I took lisinoopril and HCTZ for over 10 years. During that time, had several retinal tears and one detachment. Am now suspect for glaucoma. Am now trying to switch to a different blood pressure medicine.

  • Fibromyalgia and statins

During 2006 due to sudden and severely increased intensity in FMS pain and exhaustion from FMS (I assumed coupled with Sleep Apnea) I accepted the necessity of closing my business, hiring weekly help to do my household tasks and allowing my husband to take over cooking as I could no longer stand long enough. Walks with my dog were a thing of the past. Being told I was a type “A” personality I couldn’t understand how I could let FMS take me down like this. I tried Lyrica but not only did it NOT relieve my pain, I lost weight, couldn’t concentrate long enough to watch a TV show, was sleepy all the time AND had sudden fluctuations in blood pressure and heart rate.
Early 2008 I visited with a new Cardiologist who asked me if my FMS pain had increased after starting Lipitor the year before. Suddenly the time line seemed apparent. That’s when I stopped statin meds and went on a OTC med which kept my cholesterol around 210 but the good was really good and the bad wasn’t so bad.
But early 2017 a cauterization showed an 80% blocked in main artery in back of heart. A stent was placed in my heart but I’ve been left with stable angina. The doctor says because I now have heart disease and 60 and 79 percent blockage of my carotid arteries my cholesterol must be less than 180. He started me on Repatha which I assumed was a NON STATIN cholesterol med. But based on the deterioration of my physical health/mental health and the intensity of pain plus what I read online it is not.
PLEASE do I have any other treatment choice? My husband has been fighting cancer for over two years now and finally we learn it’s not going away. His condition changes from one day to the next and a number of times due to his reactions to chemo I’ve had to rush him to the hospital. I MUST be strong to care for him. I need to live and don’t want a stroke but please this pain is horrendous.

I have glaucoma not sure yet which type . Recently went on 5mg norvasc generic twice a day, I'm also in stage 3 kidney disease. From what I've been reading on this website it looks the norvasc will definitely have an adverse effect on the glaucoma. They want to have me take hydrochlorothiazide @ 12.5 mg and that , as I read will also have an adverse effect. What can you tell me about these two drugs in reference to the progress of kidney disease.
    Beverly Shafer Please help

I have been on Forteo for well over a year now, I am also on methotrexate and steroids. I have been told that I now have glaucoma and cataracts as a direct result of the combination of drugs I am on although the endocrinologist states that Forteo would not cause glaucoma. What I am interested to know is whether the glaucoma will subside once I am off all this medication?? Wishing everyone well. Sandra

Hello. My eyes have become very bloodshot these last 5 days I have glaucoma for many years and I have been using generic Xalatan for many years as well. A few months ago I was prescribed a new eyedrop to use together with Xalatan, Brimonidine, this last eyedrops make my eyes bloodshot like but my question is that these past days my constipation has been so bad that I have had to push so very hard and I think that this could be a reason why my eyes, especialy the left eye seems like it has an hemorrhage and I am having a lot of pain and I think my vision has worsened. Is there anything to refresh my eyes in a natural way? I also use generic Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. Can you please tell me how can I alleviate these symptoms?
    Thank you

I have been taking Doxylamine for years to help me sleep, a couple of years ago I was informed I had bilateral glaucoma (which when I asked my opthamologistif the Doxylamine can cause it he said "no") but recently I found out I have narrow angle glaucoma, will this medication cause a crisis with this?

  • It all started a week ago Sunday 5th of November ...

It all started a week ago Sunday 5th of November 2017.
Approx 3.00pm when eating lunch and my tongue on the Left side only started tingling and I assumed it was the food as it was chicken with a slight spice dressing. Then later after a couple of hours my left eye starting twitching when i was watching tv.
I just assumed it was tiredness, as i had before with lack of sleep.
I had worked hard all week and I love my work and my business.
Anyway back to the story I took two aspirin to ease the ear neck ache not agony but annoying even so. I asked my husband if my mouth had dropped as ot felt odd? He agreed at 11.00pm that night he drove me to A and E.

I didnt understand what was happening to me. i panicked as my mouth was drooping on the left corner. After ear pain and a headacje at the nack of my head..... Therefore assumed it was a stroke!
I was seen and assessed and the doctor told me he didn't think it was a stroke but Bells Pulsey. And I had a CT. Scan to confirm. What a relief! O was sent home with Steroids to attack the virus asap.......
I have read all I can about Bells Palsey and all causes etc...I have followed everything I can and researched it all in detail... But now I realise that my left eye doesn't close fully so my Glaiucoma is affected ... I have been having 6 to 9 months checks at the Hospital snd have recently had an eye check before this all started..... So all was well....
I am on Latanoprost nightly over night and I am permanently putting in dry eye drops.
I Am going to back to my optit ions as chemists don't really understand what I need and haven't got any gel eye packs in stock...etc... They keep giving me wound plasters which aren't wet.....
    Any help advise etc.....
I have also been researching g links to medications and the same gland is affected with Bells Pulsey and Glaucoma.
Any advise any help is greatly appreciated.. Noone knows enough about it and I want to fight it and hopefully get back to normal asap.
I also need some help mentally for shock etc..as this is really frightening and for the normal person.
Any questions advise etc..... Please dint hesitate to get back to me .
