Noticing a significant change in short term memory since I started taking Zoloft one year ago. This is very concerning to me as there is a history of Alzheimer's and Dementia in my family and do not want to miss an early diagnosis of either disease because I'm writing this off to Zoloft use.

I've been taking Trazodone 50 mg for many years now as a sleep aid (probably 6+, I've lost track) and it has worked very well for me. So well that I encouraged my husband to take it as well! I have been experiencing very concerning memory loss. Enough that I was going to talk to my doctor about it. Then I realized, my husband was complaining of the same thing........and I thought, OMG, we are BOTH taking Trazodone. I take NO other medications. I am 52-years old and have always been very organized and efficient, and this memory loss thing has made me feel "crazy"! I'm hoping it's the Trazodone and that by discontinuing this drug, the memory loss goes away????

I have been taking Promethazine for quite awhile due to nausea from bile duct strictures, surgery for the strictures and other gastrointestinal problems. Recently I noticed short term memory problems and I am only 55 and it was starting to scare me. Unfortunately I also take other medications that can affect short term memory so even though I am going to stop the promethazine I will probably still have short term memory problems

  • I was on Savella for approximately 2 years for fib...

I was on Savella for approximately 2 years for fibromyalgia and was 54 when I was prescribed the med . It was slowly robbing me of my memory but I didn't how profoundly until I was having trouble remembering the directions to very familiar locations and would drive past them or get lost. The true measure that I was "losing it" came when I stood in front of my Keurig coffee maker which I have had for 3 years, and I couldn't remember how to operate it. I would also ask the same exact questions 2-4 times to the same person within an hour and not remember asking the question prior, was making poor choices due to extreme fatigue and confusion, and nearly lost my nursing job. I was depressed, had extreme anxiety, profound muscle pain and muscle loss, and heart palpitations. I underwent a neuropsych exam and brain MRI to rule out early onset Alzheimer's. After normal testing results, I was placed on a "drug holiday" and taken off the Savella. My memory has slowly been recovering, and I feel physically better after being off that medication. It was a nightmare experience and one in which I have not totally recovered from.
