What if anything helps this situation not be so extremely bad? Is there anything that you can do to alleviate the situation?

Methotrexate does indeed
Methotrexate does indeed reduce immunity, therefore makes way for infection, potentially anywhere. In urinary tract infections though, you may help reduce infection chance by first making a correct diagnosis, with recovery of the offending bacterium and its drug sensitivity, then adequate treatment. You should r/o presence of stone or urinary tract structural abnormalities.
If there is recurrence, preventive measures may help, general and specific to the patient's findings.
Check one of my comments on this issue, on this site, or you can keep me posted, and I can advise as necessary.
