I have the funniest sleep talk. It actually entertains me.
I've had ptsd for a long time with the nightmares and night terrors that go with it.
I've had only one nightmare since I started taking it.

I came in here for something, and now I can't remember what that was... Just kidding but not really. It's the story of my current life.

I use sleep walk when I was a child. What scares me about Prazosin it the simple fact that I am walking the house and holding partial conversations. My son after a few time walked me to the couch. I was very disturbed because it was not where I went to sleep and few months ago I sprained and ankle and almost broke my leg. I was battered at 5 and my mother woke me up with a 38 caliber in my hand. That does not happen anymore. and my weapons are under lock and key. Earlier in the month I increase dosage to 3 and spent 12 hours in a nightmare and no one could wake me up. Almost ended in the hospital. As long as I stay below three I have only had the sleep walking.

I gained 8-10 pounds within the first 8 weeks of taking it. I had not changed my diet or exercise regime but now with effort am unable to take of this uneeded extra weight. My doctor believes it is unrelated to Prazosin but I am unable to otherwise account for the gain & as was already a bit overwieght it has caused me much discomfort and a change in clothing size. Please let me know if I am alonge in this and if any diet or exercise advice. I am cnsidering going off prazosin as not sure how much it is really helping with sleep.

I have been taking Prazosin for just lest than a year...it solved my nightmare problems...however, when I was not consistent with taking it, I became volatile...uncontrollable temper fits...started taking it regular but still struggled with what I call the "Snap" sudden snaps of temper fits...My doctor just added Sertraline. My concern is taking them both at bedtime, so take the prazosin earlier about 2 hrs before bed, but today after 3 nights on the Sertraline, Iwoke with the jitters. Cant have that, I hate the jitters. My question is could I sub the Sertraline for the prazosin? Prazosin worked at first, but I was still only getting about 3 hours of sleep every night. I have a sleep disorder and need to be getting more than 3 hours of sleep at a time...Please share any info you might have that will help me make decisions on these touchy drugs...thanks CLH

about 1.5 months ago, I was taken of sertraline 200 mg and started on Prazosin 3 mg twice a day (for PTSD/Nightmares) and 60 mg Cymbalta for anxiety/depression. They changed my medication because I have bad nightmares pretty much every night, I am always very agitated (misophonia is BAD), have trichotillomania, binge eating disorder and Anxiety/PTSD/depression/SAD. So they thought if I slept better at night, then I would feel less agitation, binge less etc etc.
Since taking it I feel like absolute crud. My head is super cloudy, I am very drowsy/fatigued and just want to sleep all of the time. Super dizzy, pounding heart and the list goes on. and best of all, my nightmares are actually worse. Not sure whether to give it more time or maybe its time to be on nothing at all. I am so tired of feeling like crap. It affects relationships and work. I just want to be alone all the time.
