  • I have been on prednisone for around 4 months, ini...

I have been on prednisone for around 4 months, initially for PMR (a low dose), that was reduced to 5 mg, then 4 mg 2 months later. At that point I became ill (headaches, double vision), was diagnosed with Temporal Arteritis and my dose was increased to a massive 60 mg / day, then slowly reduced to now, when I am currently on 35 mg per day.
Yesterday, I had a worrying nose bleed that took about an hour to stop.
I can see online that this is a possible, albeit unusual side effect.
I have had few other side effects, other than an insatiable appetite and putting on too much weight. I sometimes can 'hear' my own heart beating more than I would like to. I also heve much reduced stamina and get 'puffed out' quickly in every day activities that require any excursion. It feels like I need more oxygen than I'm getting. I am a 74 yo male in generally very good health otherwise. I take medication (8 mg /day perindopril) for blood pressure, which seems to keep it under control.

I suffered a Bilateral Quadriceps Rupture a week ago. I was in the tapering phase of a 15 day prednisone prescription. Is there a possibility that these are connected?

I am on 3 BP pills a day and I am getting afraid to take them. I am being weaned down to 20 mg pred a day within the next 3 months. This low BP scares me.

  • I was on Sulfasalazine and Prednisone to treat RA....

I was on Sulfasalazine and Prednisone to treat RA. After a few month I started showing allergic reaction. Started with red skin in neck, chest, arms areas and moved to back of shoulders, hips, belly and down to things and bellow knees. Skin would eventually dry and scale in big pieces. I also had Loose skin almost all over my body. I stopped taking Sulfasalazine because I thought I was alleging to Sulfa. But even more than two weeks not taking Sulfa, I got a few flare ups. So I think my exfoliative dermatitis symptoms is due to Prednisone allergy. I have stopped taking Prednisone a few days a go. I'm curious if Prednisone was the calprid after all. I will monitor next few month.
