Hi I live in Tasmania and have been taking 400g of Glivec daily for the last 3 years for CML. I have just turned sixty years of age and last week ended up having surgery to rectify a retinal detachment. Apart from nausea, the only other noticeable side effects has been puffy eyes each morning which makes me think that the Glivec could be a contributing factor in regard to retinal detachment. I was surprised to find this support group for people suffering like me.

I have been on methotrexate 2 different times and had a detached retina twice. Needless to say I will never take it again! My dr said she never heard of it! I have not gone back to her. I was taking it for psoriatic arthritis.

    Hello -
Who knew that an antibiotic that should help us can cause further problems!?! Wishing good luck to everyone navigating this journey. Had 2nd retinal detachment surgery in December 2016 but eye still is behaving strangely, so I understand how frustrating this is!! Let's hang in there!!

OMG... Is this for real? A year ago I had LASIK surgery to correct my vision and the doctor put me on Restasis. Now yesterday, out of nowhere I developed "huge" superior tear at 11:30 in my right eye. This had caused a detachment that required immediate surgery to save my vision.

Hi may 12 year old daughter has quadriplegic CP. She is to have surgery for retina detachment. She is to be face down for 2 -3 weeks after surgery 24 hr day /7 day per week. Do you know any tools or equipment I can used to achieve this; so her surgery can be successful. Most equipment i see are for normal people; not for someone who uses a wheelchair , cannot walk, or talk and cannot used her hands or feed herself.

Hi, just went to Retina Doctor and he said the bleeding in my eyes is probably from the xarelto, but tells me it should dissipate within 4-6 weeks. Very scary, like having a thin piece of black gauze over my eye and floaters in the other eye.

I used simbrinza last week for first time for NTG. Day after starting, saw flashes in left eye & huge # of floaters (never had either before). I used drops 3 more days and each day had flashers and floaters. Took myself off drops. Just came from optho who says I have PVD but assured me there's no way the drops caused it... said it's just coincidental. I find it weirdly contemporaneous. I'm 62 so know that risk of PVD is greater as you get older. But no diabetes and I take no medications. Anyone else have similar occurrence w/ Simbrinza?

Had my first retinal detachment shortly after taking Neurontin. Don't know if it caused it but don't have any family history of detachments.
