    Hi,
I am taking Escitalopram for the last 5 years, and I have been recently diagnosed of Sleep Apnea. AHI is 9.9, and lowest desaturation suring sleep studies has been found to be 84%. I am always feeling exhausted during the day, always wanting to go to sleep even while sitting in office. Please help.

I thought all of my fatigue was from Ankylosing Spondylitis . When diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, which also causes fatigue I figured I was destined to suffer a lot from fatigue. If anyone can give support, mental and/or physical so that I can deal with or relieve some of the fatigue I would be very appreciative.

  • Hello, I’m so glad to be able to join this grou...

    Hello,

I’m so glad to be able to join this group. I need your help with my insomnia, which has been heightened by Ranexa.

I have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, and I have been taking Ranexa 500mg twice daily (in addition to Verapamil 360 mg once daily) for nearly a year now.

I already was a light sleeper, but Ranexa has increased my insomnia dramatically.

Before starting on Ranexa, I was taking Trazodone 100mg at bedtime, and could sleep 6-7 hours at night, but my cardiologist who prescribed me Ranexa told me to stop taking Trazodone because it interacts with Ranexa and get a substitute drug for sleeping. So my personal physician prescribed me Ambien 5mg and advised me skip it every third night.

Now I have three problems. One, with Ambien, I can barely sleep 4-5 hours at night. Secondly, the third night when I skip Ambien, I can’t sleep more than 2-3 hours at most. Thirdly, I’m told that Ambien could cause dementia (which is why my doctor advised me not to take it more than two nights in a row).

My physician has been unable to prescribe an alternative sleeping medicine that could enable me to sleep longer and doesn’t have serious side effects.

So I’m wondering if you can help me resolve my sleeping problem.

I shall be looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you.
    Mustafa
