Acid Reflux

  • I have recently started taking sulfasalizine for RA. I also take Methotrexate and Plaquinil and Nexium. Since starting the sulfa drug I have extreme acid reflux. Nothing I try to take to relieve it is helping. Is this common with sulfasalizine and will it get better after I have been on it for a longer period of time?

  • You could try to line your stomach with a supplement containing DGL.. The best one I have ever taken, is by Thorne - called GI-ENcaps. I used
to have IBS, and this is something you can take with every meal if you like, and it's natural with no side effects, and it very good at lining the
stomach. You could try to calm your stomach down from the side effects of the sulfa drug, and it ought to just treat your stomach and esophagus. You could also take a good probiotic... and eat pre-biotics, like kim chee etc.

  • So, have you already tried drinking a little tonic of Apple Cider Vinegar with warm water? or just changing to an alkaline diet? or trying some 'food combining'?
