I am LR. Brand new to this. Have others been told Trileptal makes them more prone to infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal)? Has that caused others to go off the drug? I need to start talking about this concern. Thank you. LR

  • adverse effects of celexa and trileptol in adolescents

My daughter was recently prescribed celexa 30mg with trileptol 300mg twice daily for an attemped suicide she is 15, was diagnosed while in the mental health hospital with adolescent depression and anxiety. She has now been on this medicine for 2 weeks and is shaky and extremely lightheaded also experiencing onsets of stomach pains and fatigue, are these normal side effects and will they get any better? I have tried contacting the hospital and her primary Dr have had no response back from either! I'm just worried that the dose may be to much. Has anyone else experienced any of these side effects and if so did they get better and did they continue on with the medicines.

My name is Ellen & I have a son who is 35 years of age. Wes had a negative reaction to the DPT shot when he was an infant which caused diffuse brain damage. He had seizures & had not had one since the age of 19, thank goodness. His diagnosis is high functioning Autism. He is a great person, functioning probably on an overall 15 year old level. Very knowledgeable about sports, knows many famous sports figures. He is not always understanding the consequences of his behavior, and he has anxiety. He started having a few seizures recently & is taking trileptal and depakote. My concern is that taking both medications together is causing a great deal of aggitation & oppositional defiant behavior, at its worst. He is mumbling a great deal, interrupting conversations & this is not something that he experiences at this level in the past, before taking these meds. He is taking reasonably low levels as he usually reacts negativelly to most medications. He is currently taking 500mg of depakote twice a day & 150 mg. of trileptal twice a day. Anyone having similar reactions...very scary.

I'M from Brasil and I have a 11 year old son that was diagnosed with TS after starting the treatment with trilpetal. The doctors says that the medicine has nothing todo with TS, but I'm not convinced. My boy is taking Trileptal because he had a convulsion.
