I seem to have responded to my new medication Xeljanz to a certain degree that is helping my pain levels but I seem to be on self destruct for my marriage due to awful mood swings and personal attacks on my hubby and my grown up children, I have been impossible to live with for the last fortnight especially and I only just increased my Xeljanz from 1 tab daily (5mg) to 2 tabs daily (10mg) approximately 3 weeks ago, can anyone shed some light on this, oh and this evening I have reduced my dose back to the original 1 tab daily as I don't want to be like this. ?? Many thanks for any input. ;-)

I have rhumetoid arthritis diagnosed at 40years old now I am 49 years old. I am takeing zeljanz 5mg twice name day but it is causing me to shed my hair. I can see my scalp on the left side of my head. I feel less swelling and some pain relief can do more but the hair shedding is so concerning to me. I do not have a family history of hair loss. What can I do or take to counter act the hair shedding and keep takeing this medicine? Any advice is appreciated.

Hi. On xeljanz for 2 years. I have become angry and irritable since I started it. It made me feel do much better. Afraid to switch ti something else because it has helped with RA. Doc says no one reports the personality change. When I call for a refill the speciality pharm always asks about personality and behavior changes. Just found this group

  • Diagnosed with RA 10 years ago - 2007. Used Enbre...

Diagnosed with RA 10 years ago - 2007. Used Enbrel successfully for 9 years. Experienced an RA flare up early 2016, as Enbrel didn't seem effective anymore. Rheumatologist switched me to Humera but no better results. September, 2016 I was switched to Xeljanz, 11mg once a day. Received relief. February, 2017, Plaquenil, 200 mg, twice a day, which improved the results.

Since June, I have had 4 diverticulitis attacks, the first one requiring hospitalization. After each attack, I was put on a course of Flagel and Spirograph, antibiotics. During that time I stopped the Xeljanz and plaquenil. After the 10 day course of antibiotics was completed, I again resumed the Xeljanz and plaquenil. One to two weeks later I had another diverticulitis attack.

My GI is suggesting surgery at this point. Maybe I don't need surgery but a modification of my Xeljanz therapy (preferably), or switching again to another RA treatment.
